AUGER, Victor Francis – Peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Extendicare, Cobourg, in the presence of his family, in his 81st year.  Beloved husband of Lois Maddigan (nee Power) and the late Eleanor Edith (nee Crowe).  Loving father of the late Kenneth Auger (Pat Pentland), Anne (Todd) Wilcox, Michelle (Martin) Musgrave, Teresa Auger (Paul Black) and Michael (Brigitte) Auger.  Also loved by Fred Rypstra.  Fondly remembered by Lois’ children Paul, Anne Marie, and John Maddigan.  Victor was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 5 dear great grandchildren.  Cherished brother of the late Leonard (Carmen) Auger, the late Edward (Irene) Auger, Mary (Don) Maher, Margaret Cadieux, and Fran (George) Black.  Predeceased by his parents Gynneth and Victor.  He is loved by many nieces and nephews, as well as Lois’ siblings and spouses, nieces and nephews.  Vic’s career as a high school teacher was very fulfilling in Orono, Woodstock but especially many years in Bowmanville High School.  He served on N.N.S.S. Board as trustee.  He taught several subjects but mainly Geography.  He is fondly remembered by many former students as strict, fair and tremendous fun.  Vic was a founding member of Knights of Columbus Bowmanville Council in 1973 and held several executive offices.  He was exemplified to 4th Degree Knight.  All who met Vic were impressed by his intelligence and razor sharp wit.  A true gentleman.  The family is deeply appreciative of the expert and tender care given to Vic during his 2 years at Extendicare.  It was beyond price to have Vic cared for by medical staff who understand Alzheimer Disease.  Dr Caldwell (Dr Amin our family practitioner) and the entire staff – especially those dedicated to Vic’s care on Birch.  Spiritial care was faithfully given by Fr. Andrew, Fr. Mario and the Legion of Mary.  Friends will be received at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Monday, January 16th, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A complete funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 at  2:30 pm. Cremation with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bowmanville.
